Kahala Associates was founded in 2001 by Hawaii REALTORS® Myra and Victor Brandt, with the vision of creating a different real estate company; the first associate-owned real estate company in Hawaii.

The concept of shared ownership is highly regarded by Kahala Associates' broker and associate owners and fosters a unique, highly successful partnership that allows for vastly efficient cooperative efforts and scalability that are not possible in the sole proprietor model that was often the next choice for experienced Hawaii real estate professionals. 

The Kahala Associates business model closely follows that of mentor and business pioneer Larry Kendall, co-founder of The Group in Ft. Collins, Colorado.

In 2003, Kahala Associates' was invited to join the prestigious Leading Real Estate Companies of the World® organization, a global network comprising 700+ premier independent real estate firms in 38 countries; a group which consistently out-performs its less independent national real estate brand competitors.  A core competency of the group is its commitment to excellence in relocation; providing newcomer resources and specialized local real estate services to hundreds of individuals, families and corporations each year.

In 2008 Kahala Associates was asked to exclusively represent the MD Preferred Real Estate network, assisting physicians moving to Hawaii and the Military Housing Assistance Fund in support of U.S. military personnel reassigned to the islands.

Today, Kahala Associates and its 30 associates and support staff continue to succeed, ranking 4th in transactions per agent and 3rd in sales volume per agent in 2009 and placing 15th on the list of top residential real estate firms in Hawaii, according to the Pacific Business News' 2010 Book of Lists, and 8th overall for Oahu.  The group continues on the path of growth and increased market share and anticipates continued success in the coming years.
